DIFFERENT COLORS OF LIGHT OFFER DIFFERENT BENIFITS

You’ve probably seen by now, major retailers carrying “blue light glasses”. Blue light to the human eye is known as day time, wake up time, energy time. This can become an issue when so many of today’s technology emits blue light. Our bodies do what they are programmed to do and produce certain hormones that are meant to aid us through out the day. This is where sleep disruption comes in. But did you know red light is also perceived by our bodies in a certain way? If you have ever shined a flash light under your finger you would have noticed it looks red. Now one might think this was blood, however it is red because red is the only color that can pierce through our skin and get down to the bone.  Red light Therapy or Low Level Laser Therapy devices are FDA approved medical devices that are meant to produce the proper dosing of red light to aid many different body processes in healing the body.

5 FREQUENCIES AND WHY THEY ARE IMPORTANT

Our FDA approved Low Level Laser panels are the only units that emit, 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, 830nm, and 850nm. 630nm is ideal for addressing skin concerns. This band evens out uneven pigmentation and rejuvenates the skins texture and tone. In many studies, 630nm has been the wavelength effective in reducing wrinkles, face lines, stimulating hair growth and even treating non-cancerous melanoma and psoriasis. 660nm has a slightly deeper penetrating effect than 630nm. This is the frequency often used in multiple studies for treating inflammation, swelling from an injury, reducing neuropathic pain, and accelerated wound healing. The 810nm wavelength is a near-infrared wavelength that can penetrate the skull and into the brain. This means it offers significant neurological benefits. Studies of the 810nm wavelength have shown great results in improving healing and recovery after exercise, improving stroke recovery, and even alleviating anxiety and depression symptoms. Red Light Therapy is one of the most sought after treatments for SAD, or seasonal affective disorder. 830nm wavelength has been shown to promote bone repair and growth as well as helping athletes recover faster after an injury. The 850nm wavelength is used for all encompassing inflammation. This wavelength has shown great results in studies with muscle recovery, wound healing, collagen production, and even orthodontics. These wavelengths combined are going to give you the best possible results vs using just red light, or just infrared (ie. sauna). 

HOW PHOTOBIOMODULATION (PBM) WORKS AT A CELLULAR LEVEL

The human body is photo-sensitive, and a light triggers biological processes much like a plant undergoing photosynthesis. This process occurs when a specific wavelength of light enters photoreceptors in our body or on our skin. The mitochondria is the power house of our cells and it is where our energy comes from. The interaction from the light in the cells stimulates ATP (energy)and in turn increases blood flow, decreases inflammation, increases collagen production. These three alone are the primary mechanisms to peak physical performance. When cells are energized, they perform functions more efficiently. Research has shown this can lead to less muscle fatigue, muscle growth, and the increased ability for our bodies to adapt to increased training loads.

REDUCED INFLAMMATION 

Near-infrared and red light reduce overall inflammation in the body by decreasing inflammatory markers. This can help with symptoms associated with joint pain, auto-immune conditions, muscle fatigue, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injuries.

REDUCED RECOVERY TIMES AFTER TRAINING AND INJURY

Red light therapy can help accelerate muscle repair after training or injury. This happens by stimulating the mitochondria as they are significantly responsive to red light. Muscle cells are very rich in mitochondria. There are also studies that red light may stimulate stem cell production which would also aid in muscle recovery

HEALTHIER SKIN

Red light wavelengths target the mitochondrial chromophores  that generate production of collagen. Collagen stimulation yields more holistic benefits than just simply resurfacing the outer layers of the skin. Participants in many studies have shown clinical improvement in collagen density and skin complexion. 

REDUCED PAIN

By reducing inflammation, pain can be reduced. In one clinical study, one patient was treated successfully for severe nerve pain due to a spinal cord injury by utilizing red light therapy for pain. The scientist concluded it was a strong breakthrough and had significant clinical relevance. 

INCREASED FERTILITY AND INCREASED TESTOSTERONE LEVELS

Red and infrared wavelengths can stimulate photoreceptor proteins in the testes causing more testosterone production. Other studies have shown that low-level light therapy may affect the pineal gland which plays a role in reproduction.

STIMULATION OF HAIR GROWTH

Red light wavelengths have shown to stimulate epidermal stem cells in the hair follicle, accelerating the growth phase. Research performed on mice with chemotherapy induced alopecia showed significant responsiveness to red light. The treatment encouraged hair growth.

IS RED LIGHT THERAPY SAFE?

Red light therapy is perfectly safe. Our units do not emit any harmful radiation including EMF. If you have any concerns please consult your physician.

WILL I GET SUNBURN?

Although the warming rays might feel as if you are getting a sun tan, you are not. Our units only produce red and near infrared wavelengths which are only going to affect you in a healthy way. But hey, close your eyes and pretend you are at the beach!

CAN RED LIGHT THERAPY REMOVE MY SCARS & ACNE SCARS?

Depending on ones age & condition of their skin, usually effective results can be seen at 8-12 weeks.

DO YOU NEED TO WEAR EYE PROTECTION?

It is not recommended that you look directly into the lights as they are extremely bright and can be uncomfortable. There currently are 15 studies that have shown positive results in cataract treatment using light therapy.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET RED LIGHT THERAPY?

First, it’s most important to get advice from your physician before attempting to treat a medical condition. Most commonly, you will enjoy 15 minute sessions, 3-5 times per week for the first - fourth month. By then you should be able to judge what your body needs based on acute or chronic issues. Everybody is different! Some use it everyday!
